ITEC Introduces Changes Again! What Does This Mean For You?

ITEC LogoYou may know that ITEC and VTCT merged in November 2016. As a result of this, some of their policies and processes are being revised.

Midway through this Academic Year (February 2018) ITEC introduced a new Recognition of Prior Learning Policy (to bring it into line with the previous VTCT policy)

What does it mean for you?

The period for which you can claim Recognition of Prior Learning has been reduced from 5 to 3 years.  This means that if you had completed another qualification (such as the ABC Diploma in Reflexology) you now only have a period of 3 years in which you can be exempt from the Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology Examination of the ITEC Diplomas in Massage and Aromatherapy.

We are still waiting for clarification from ITEC if this also applies to students who have completed the ITEC qualifications.  Under the previous policy, if you had completed, for instance, the ITEC Diploma in Massage, you would be exempt from the Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology Examination of the ITEC Diploma in Aromatherapy or Reflexology (as long as this was completed within a 5 year period).

We will keep you posted as things are confirmed.

If however you are looking to increase you portfolio of qualifications and offer a wider variety of treatments to your clients, please look at undertaking your next Diploma Course sooner rather than later.  If you leave it too long, you may have sit the Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology Examination again, as well as completing some of the assignments again.

If you have any questions regarding this, please do get in touch!
