Course Description:

The field of Nutrition can be a minefield in making sure you obtain a recognised qualification!

In order to practise professionally as a Nutritional Therapist you have to undertake a minimum 3 year degree programme.  If this is what you wish to do please let us know and we will forward you some details of accredited Courses.

For most our prospective students this is not the type of Course or training they are looking for.  Instead we offer the ITEC Level 3 Award for Healthy Eating & Well Being for the Complementary Therapy Client.  The ITEC Level 3 Award in Healthy Eating and Well-Being for the Complementary Therapy Client is a vocational qualification recognised by Ofqual within the Qualification and Credit Framework.

In order to ensure you get the right qualification our Course follows the latest ITEC QCF (Qualifications Credit Framework) syllabus which was introduced by the UK Government in September 2009 (and revised in September 2012).

The ITEC Award in Healthy Eating and WellBeing in conjunction with any ITEC Level 3 Diplomas in Complementary Medicine (Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy etc … ) will you will be able to join any of the leading professional associations and be registered with Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.

Undertaking this Course will enable you to provide information in the maintenance of health and well being of clients as well considering the nutrients required for a healthy diet as well as deficiencies, disorders and key illnesses associated with diet.

You will learn to indentify the major food groups and their common sources.  You will understand how cooking and refining processes as well as environmental factors affect nutrients.

You will understand how common ailments have links to nutritional imbalances and explain how nutritional imbalances can affect health and wellbeing.  You will learn how to maintain a balanced diet with certain intolerances (gluten, dairy, nut etc …) and the various disorders associated with the intolerances.

You will be confident in evaluating client’s present eating habits in line with current healthy eating guidelines.

Course Structure:

Our Healthy Eating &WellBeing Course is continually being updated and refined with the latest developments in the field and feedback from students.

The course is run over 2 Days over approximately 1 month to give students enough time to understand and digest the material being taught.  Over the years we have found that this is the timeframe that works best for most students.

On Completion:

You will receive:

  • ITEC QCF Award in Healthy Eating  & Wellbeing for the Complementary Therapy Client
  • Richdales Institute Award in Healthy Eating  & Wellbeing for the Complementary Therapy Client

Course Prerequisites:

There are no academic prerequisites for enrolling on our ITEC QCF Award in Healthy Eating & WellBeing . However, you must have fluency in written and spoken English and be a minimum of 18 years of age.  The one vital element all our students must possess is the commitment necessary to complete the course.

What types of people join the course?

We have students from a variety of backgrounds.  Most of them are Practitioners looking to expand and develop their skills so that they are able to give correct advice to their clients.

We do have some students who do not want to practise professionally but just want to be give advice to friends and family.   They come to us because they still want the best training available.

Do I require any qualifications to get on the course?

No.  The Course is designed to take students from absolute beginner right up to professional level.

 

It has been a long time since I left school.  Will I be able to do this Course?

Yes !  We have had many students who have undertaken and successfully completed their Diploma Courses in their late 60’s !

 

How do I know if this is the right Course for me ?

You can arrange to come and sit-in on a class in progress.  This is not an ‘Open Day’ where everything is set up perfectly so that prospective students only get to see the things and students that the training providers want.

We are happy to give you the chance to see an actual class in progress and experience the ‘Richdales way of learning’ first hand, meet the teachers and current students of the Institute, see our professional Course venues and ask any questions you may have

You can also arrange a personal appointment (which can take place by telephone or in person) with our Courses Director to discuss any questions you may have on an individual basis.

 

Are the tutors specialists in their field?

Yes ! Our teachers are individually selected not only for their expertise, but being passionate about teaching and helping their students develop.  We use a variety of teachers to deliver the Diploma Courses so that you benefit from their individual areas of expertise (although you will always have one teacher who is overall responsible for you).

It is a requirement that all our teachers on our Diploma Courses -

a) have an adult teaching qualification (and therefore demonstrated a competency and proficiency in developing strategies and material for delivering teaching and learning approaches more effectively)

b) are experienced practitioners and still treating patients (so that you can benefit from the daily clinical experience)

c) regularly update their skills (so that you benefit from the latest developments rather than learning outdate theories and models)

You can pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer.  To make things even easier for you we accept debit or credit card payment as well (without any additional charges).

You can spread the cost of your training by paying in regular payments.
