Emergency First Aid at Work – for the Complementary Medicine Practitioner

Course Goals:

What would you do if your client suffered a medical emergency during a treatment ?

Employers, clinics and local councils are increasingly requiring Complementary Medicine Practitioners to hold a valid HSE compliant First Aid qualification in order to work at their premises.

Completing the course will give you a recognised first aid qualification which is compliant with HSE First Aid at Work Regulations (1981) allowing you to carry out first aid in the workplace and providing relevant certification and documentation.

Please note that due to the nature of this Course there will be a maximum of 12 students per teacher.

Course Description:

This is a Health & Safety Executive (HSE) compliant one day Certificated Course which, on successful completion, is valid for 3 years.

It is classroom based and includes theoretical knowledge and practical sessions designed to give you the ability and confidence to carry out first aid in the workplace. As there is no final exam, assessment is continuous throughout the day. The course also includes a section on legal requirements relevant to any first aid treatment carried out in the workplace.

On Completion:

HSE compliant 1 Day Emergency First Aid at Work certificate (valid for 3 years)

Successfully recognise the signs and symptoms of a variety of first aid situations, both major and minor

Successfully carry out the appropriate treatment for a variety of first aid situations, both major and minor

Demonstrate awareness of the reporting procedures for first aid in the work place

Demonstrate understanding of when and how to obtain help

Demonstrate awareness of the contents of a first aid kit for the workplace

Who the course is for:

Any complementary medicine practitioner who is treating clients.

Course Prerequisites:

There are no specific prerequisites to attend this Course.

You must however be physically fit, as there is large amount of practical role play and practice
