We are pleased to announce that Sarah Guyan (nee Ridgway) a past student of the Institute and member of the post graduate association has been appointed as Complementary Therapies Lead at St Christopher’s Hospice (Sydenham and Orpington).
We are further pleased to announce that St Christopher’s Hospice (Sydenham and Orpington) are presenting a volunteering opportunity to qualified students of Richdales Institute. Volunteering at St Christopher’s offers many benefits to therapists including the training you will receive as well as the experience of working in a team environment within a professional multi-disciplinary setting.
St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. As part of its service it offers complementary therapies to inpatients and outpatients. They are currently looking to recruit volunteers to provide massage, reflexology and aromatherapy.
As a member of a team of Complementary Therapists you will be providing one-to-one treatments to inpatients and outpatients at both of their sites in Sydenham and Orpington. The ability to run relaxation sessions will also be an advantage.
If you are interested you will need to apply for a position by completing an application form and attending a formal interview. You will then be invited to attend a 24 hour training programme over a number of weeks and, if selected, complete an induction program within the Complementary Therapies Team.
On-going training is offered in the form of Annual Updates as well as session focussing on key areas such as Dementia awareness.
