4 out of 5 people will suffer low back pain at some point in their lives. Back pain is one of the most common reasons for absence from work and is also one of the most common reasons for someone to visit their GP. Back conditions frequently have an adverse effect on health influence on health and quality of life for many individuals and can limit daily activities.
There is now research demonstrating that massage is more effective than usual medical interventions in improving pain and function in patients with chronic low back pain.
There are many conditions which may present as ‘back pain’ and so knowing when to treat and perhaps more importantly when not to treat is important.
You will learn how to make appropriate referrals to GPs, Chiropractors, Osteopaths etc raising your professional profile and helping you build your practice through inter-disciplinary referrals.
The majority of patients will be suffering from mechanical low back pain and you will learn techniques to help you treat these patients more effectively. This in turn will lead to increased referrals from existing patients as you become known for helping back pain more quickly and effectively.
There will be a maximum of only 10 students on the Course.
This Course certifies for 7 hours of group learning.
Identify ‘red’ and ‘yellow’ flags for patients with low back pain/sciatica and know when to refer patients.
Analyse posture, indentify and palpate key bony landmarks in the lower limb and spine.
Identify the ‘Lower Crossed Syndrome’ in patients and give appropriate treatment.
Indentify, palpate and treat the 10 most common muscles involved in low back pain.
Utilise specific advanced massage and myofascial release techniques in patients with low back pain / sciatica.
You must hold a professional qualification in bodywork eg Massage, Aromatherapy, Sports Massage, Shiatsu, Bowen Technique etc.
