Course Goals:

During this course you will learn safe and effective baby massage techniques allowing you to work confidently when massaging a baby or infant. You will also learn how to teach parents or carers how to massage their own babies, both in a one to one and group setting.

You will be taught specific positioning and massage techniques, as well as, contra-indications and precautions for babies and infant of different ages. You will also learn about specific carrier oils and beneficial strokes to aid specific common problems during childhood.

Course Description:

Baby massage is a long standing tradition in some cultures with babies being massaged from birth as part of their daily baby care routine.

By parents massaging their babies it can help to establish a warm, caring and positive relationship, improving the natural bonding process. In addition there are studies suggesting that massage can play a significant role in the growth and development of children. It can help with a variety of common childhood complaints as well as encouraging sleep, improving immune system function, helping with colic and lowering stress levels.

Although baby massage is a natural desire for parents, many can lack the self-confidence to carry out even the simplest of massages. You will learn how to perform a baby massage yourself and how to teach parents and carers.
